Extending the Roundtable Conversation

Summer is beginning to seem like a distant memory. Sunset is beginning to creep earlier into the evening, the air (occasionally) has a hint of crispness in it, and for those of us on college campuses, the noise and bustle of student life has returned. But here at Uncommon Sense, we’re hoping to extend the summer just a little bit longer.

One of the hallmark experiences for me at last June’s annual meeting was attending the roundtable discussions. At the end of nearly all of them, one of the presenters or an audience member invariably prefaced a final comment with a note that the conversation had only just begun. Thanks to our presence here, that no longer has to be the case. So we’d like to introduce you to our series this fall on the annual meeting roundtables and workshops.

Each week, one of the leaders, presenters, or participants in many of the roundtables from last June’s conference will write a post here at Uncommon Sense in which they summarize the discussion, pose foll0w-up questions, and assess the state of the topic moving forward. After that, we leave the conversation in your hands.

We’re very excited about this process, and hope that it can become a more integrated part of annual meetings to come. In the meantime, we look forward to our first post next Tuesday.
