Summer 2022 VEATI Assistants Needed

The Omohundro Institute is looking for two graduate students to work as assistants to the teaching staff for the 2022 OI-NEH Vast Early America Teaching Institute (VEATI).

The assignment will include the two weeks of the VEATI, July 3-16, as well as the two weeks before the VEATI begins. The contract period will begin Monday, June 20 and end Saturday, July 16. Hours will vary and some weekend work will be necessary.

Duties include assisting the instructors for the course (for example, the assembly of reading packets and other materials as well as the monitoring of a/v equipment during class sessions) and assisting workshop participants with logistical needs (for example, moving into temporary campus housing, locating campus buildings, and using campus services such as wifi, etc.). Assistants will report to OI staff.

Assistants must be William & Mary students in good standing in a graduate program during both the application period and during the contract period. They must also receive written authorization from their advisor if offered the job. Assistants also must be present in Williamsburg and available to work during the entire contract period. Assistants must have a valid driver’s license.

Payment for the assignment is $4,000 of taxable income and will be disbursed in two installments by the Omohundro Institute. Assistants will be responsible for paying all taxes on these earnings.
