Why become an Associate?
Associates are key members of the OI’s community through their support for scholars, scholarship, and a dynamic early American history – giving voice to the past – through annual contributions to the OI. Choose to make a one-time gift or set up a monthly recurring donation to become an OI Associate.
OI Associate Gift Levels
| Student $25 |
We encourage undergraduate and graduate students to participate at this level. Student Level Associates receive the electronic William and Mary Quarterly, a 20 percent discount on OI books as well as any book published by UNC Press, and invitations to OI seminars, conferences, and programs. (Please note that the OI regularly offers donor-funded Associate memberships at this level gratis.) |
| Basic $35+ |
We encourage precariously employed faculty, early-career scholars, K-12 educators and the interested public to participate at this level. Basic Level Associates receive the electronic William and Mary Quarterly, a 20 percent discount on OI books as well as any book published by UNC Press, and invitations to OI seminars, conferences, and programs. |
| Regular $75+ |
Regular Associates receive the William and Mary Quarterly, a 20 percent discount on OI books as well as any book published by UNC Press, and invitations to OI seminars and conferences. |
| Supporting $100+ |
Supporting Associates have the option of logging onto JSTOR for full access to the William and Mary Quarterly. They also receive all Regular Associate benefits and may choose to receive a recent OI book in appreciation for their gift. |
| Sustaining $250+ |
Along with Regular Associate benefits, Sustaining Associates may select up to two OI books in recognition of their support and may choose the option of full access to the William and Mary Quarterly on JSTOR. |
| Conserving $500+ |
Along with Regular Associate benefits, Conserving Associates may select up to three OI books in recognition of their support and may choose the option of full access to the William and Mary Quarterly on JSTOR. |
| Patron $1,000+ |
Patrons have the option to receive copies of all OI books published during the year, as well as the Regular Associate benefits, and may choose the option of full access to the William and Mary Quarterly on JSTOR. |
| Benefactor $5,000+ |
Benefactors have the option to receive copies of all OI books published during the year, as well as the Regular Associate benefits, may choose the option of full access to the William and Mary Quarterly on JSTOR, and receive invitations to special events hosted by the OI. |
Federal law requires that the tax deduction for a charitable contribution be reduced by the fair market value of benefits received. The value of an issue of the William and Mary Quarterly is $15. For fair market value of books, see current price list.
