The OI’s mission is to support, produce, and advance scholarship focused on early American history and culture and an important part of that mission is the production of conferences each year. Each is meant to serve as a forum for a rich variety of scholarship on early America and we encourage scholars across the academic spectrum as well as at all stages of academic career development to propose topics, panels and papers.
The 2020 annual conference, “Material World/Virtual World: The Physical and the Digital in Vast Early America,” will take place in Williamsburg, Virginia, at the OI’s home institution, William & Mary, from June 18 through 20, 2020.
We are experimenting with a new format for the conference and invite all to apply. Due to the new format, the usual OI rules regarding presentations at two consecutive OI annual conferences and filling more than one role at any given conference will be suspended. You can read more about the new format and the conference theme here.
