Rhys Isaac was an exceedingly kind and generous man. I was lucky enough to be his student. We frequently crossed paths in the Historic Area in the years after I completed his Public History course, and he always greeted me warmly and inquired about my work. He even once gave me a ride from the train station when I found myself without a car. My favorite memory is a conversation we had one autumn standing underneath the tree in front of the courthouse, where we marveled at the glorious colors it produced every year. That is how I will remember him.
