Council and Executive Board Elect New Members

At its annual meeting in May, the Council of the Omohundro Institute of Early American History and Culture elected four new members. Beginning three-year terms on July 1, 2008, are: Laurent Dubois, Duke University; Elizabeth Mancke, University of Akron; Philip D. Morgan, Johns Hopkins University; and Peter Thompson, University of Oxford. The chair of the College of William and Mary’s Department of History has appointed Paul W. Mapp to represent the department on the Council.

The Executive Board was pleased that Sid Lapidus of New York City accepted its invitation to membership. The Board also elected Robert C. Ritchie, Director of Research at the Huntington Library, to a three-year term as chair.
