On-Campus

On-campus lodging is available in two facilities.

The Heritage Commons Residence Halls are part of the 2002 Olympic Winter Games Athletes’ Village. The following accommodations are available:

Single occupancy: Two-bedroom suites, with a twin bed in each room and a shared bathroom, or four-bedroom suites, with a twin bed in each room, and a shared bath for each set of two bedrooms. The rate is $49.10 per person, per night (includes 11.6% tax).
Double occupancy: Suites composed of two rooms, each with two twin beds and a bathroom shared by four people. The rate is $37.94 per person, per night (includes 11.6% tax).

All rooms are air conditioned, and Internet access can be obtained at the registration desk. (For views of the rooms, visit http://conferences.utah.edu/conference/accommodations.htm.) Bed linens, a towel, and a small bar of soap will be provided. Meals are not included; breakfast is served in the Chase N. Peterson Heritage Center from 6:30–9:00 a.m. at a cost of $6.35. Check-in time is 2:00 p.m.; check-out time is 10:00 a.m.

Reservations for rooms at the Heritage Commons Residence Halls must be made directly with University Conference & Event Management. If you use the conference housing form included in the printed brochure, you must mail or fax it with your payment, by personal check made out to the University of Utah or by credit card, to:

The cutoff date for reservations is May 14, 2009. Cancellations and requests for refunds must be made in writing by June 4, 2009. No refunds will be given after that date. All cancellations, whether made before or after June 4, carry a $50 fee. Participants that depart early will not be refunded the difference of nights not stayed.

The University Guest House Hotel offers rooms with a king-size bed or two queen-size beds, both at the rate of $89 per night, single or double occupancy, plus 11.6% tax. For rooms with two queen-size beds, an additional $10 each will be charged for a third or fourth person, for a rate per night of $99 (triple) or $109 (quadruple), plus tax. Continental breakfast and ethernet are included. Among the amenities are a fitness room, laundry facilities, and a convenience store. Check-in time is 3:00 p.m.; check-out time is 11:00 a.m.

Reservations and payment by credit card or personal check must be made directly with University Conference & Event Management by May 14, 2009. After May 14, all reservations and rates are subject to availability. You may reserve a room by calling the reservation line at 1 (888) 416-4075. To secure the special conference rate, mention the group name Omohundro Institute Conference (OIEAHC). (Rooms may be viewed at www.universityguesthouse.com.) Do not use the conference housing form in the printed brochure to reserve rooms at the University Guest House Hotel.

Off-Campus

A block of rooms is being held for conference participants at the Hotel Monaco in downtown Salt Lake City (15 West 200 South; Gallivan Plaza TRAX stop). Single rooms are $129 a night plus 12.6% tax; doubles are $139 a night plus 12.6% tax. To secure this rate, you must make reservations by May 14, 2009. You may reserve accommodations by calling 1 (877) 294-9710 toll-free or (801) 595-0000 and requesting the OIEAHC/Omohundro Institute function. Alternately, you may go to www.monaco-saltlakecity.com and make your reservation online by following these directions: select Reservations, select Hotel Reservations (you may need to temporarily disable your pop-up blocker), select your arrival and departure dates, enter “G975” in the Rate Code field (it is case sensitive), and select Search. To confirm that you are receiving the group rate, look for “OIEAHC Omohundro Ins” on the Web page. (Please be aware that the group rate will not come up if you search for dates well before or after the conference. If you wish to arrive earlier than Monday, June 8, or extend your stay beyond Wednesday, June 17, you will need to call to make your reservation.) Reservations must be secured by a major credit card, and a cancellation made less than 72 hours prior to arrival will result in a charge equal to one night’s room and tax. Valet parking is available at $15.50 per day plus tax. Via TRAX, it takes 15 minutes to reach the conference venue (Fort Douglas stop) from the Hotel Monaco (see map II).
