Getting There

Boston and the Suffolk campus are easily accessible by subway, commuter rail, commuter boats, and bus service. Please visit the Web site of the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority (MBTA), www.mbta.com, for more details about Boston’s public transportation system. Taxis are readily available. Driving can be a challenge in Boston and parking is scarce, but once you arrive, you can leave your car behind. Since it is so compact, Suffolk’s campus and neighboring landmarks are perfect for walking.

By Air
Logan International Airport, approximately four miles from Suffolk University, is the major airport serving New England. You may find a better fare, however, by flying into either T. F. Green Airport in Warwick, Rhode Island, or Manchester Airport in Manchester, New Hampshire, both of which are about an hour from Boston and have bus connections to the city. Peter Pan Bus Lines runs from T. F. Green Airport to South Station in downtown Boston, a ten-minute walk from Suffolk. Vermont Transit Bus Lines links Manchester Airport to South Station.

Logan Airport has a free shuttle bus to the MBTA Blue Line Airport Station, which is four stops from Suffolk (Government Center Station). Alternately, at the terminal you can board the MBTA Silver Line, which will take you directly to South Station. There you can transfer to the MBTA Red Line and travel two stops to Park Street Station, the stop closest to Suffolk University Law School, or look for a cab at the cab stand outside the station. The fare for any of these subway journeys is $2.00, which you pay before boarding by buying a prepaid Charlie Ticket. Visit www.mbta.com for more information.

By Train
Boston’s South Station is served by Amtrak and by commuter lines through southeastern New England. Acela Express service is available from New York and Washington, D.C. Getting from New York to Boston takes about three hours with high-speed service and four hours with regular coach service. Rail service from Maine and New Hampshire is available on the Downeaster, which arrives at Boston’s North Station. From North Station, take the MBTA Green Line to Park Street Station, the subway stop closest to Suffolk. Visit www.thedowneaster.com or www.mbta.com for schedules and fares.

By Bus
Probably the cheapest way to get to Boston from New York is by the Fung Wah or Lucky Star buses, which began as low-cost ways to travel between the Chinatowns of the two cities. This competition has forced other companies to reduce their rates as well. Bus transport options from other places include Greyhound Bus Lines, which serves more than 3,100 destinations across North America; Concord Coach, which provides round-trip bus service from Maine and New Hampshire to Boston; and Peter Pan Bus Lines, which covers the Northeast from Concord, New Hampshire, to Washington, D.C.
